In 1918 a young man named Masataka embarked on a trip to Scotland to learn about Whisky. After Studies at Glasgow University and training at Scottish distilleries, Masataka founded his own Whisky distillery Nikka Whisky in 1934. This became the start of a Japanese Whisky adventure resulting in a world wide recognition of exceptional Whisky. In 2015 Nikka Whisky won the International Spirits Challenge as the best distiller of the year.
